High School

Our Alma Mater we will raise
To Sylacauga High
Loyal, true, we all will pledge
Our best to you.
When our days have ended here,
And good friends have to part,
We'll always cherish our high school
Deep within our hearts.

Now you may be reading this and all it seems like to you is just a jumble of words. Meaningless. Well, I've only been here for a few weeks and just reading those words, it almost makes me want to cry. I can't wait until my graduation, so if you see me, I'll be crying like a little baby!

High school.
When you read those two words, a million words flood to your head. For a middle schooler, Fear. Scary. Huge. No fun. Hard. Horrendous. Four years of misery.

For a highschooler, especially a senior,
Memories. Fun. Years I will never forget. School is eh.. but I got through it. Friends. First Love. Scary at first, but you get used to it soon enough. Unforgettable. Overall, I loved it.

At our highschool our motto is "We Are Family". and they aren't lying. As soon as you get here, you are a part of a HUGE family. Almost everyone has your back. You cry together, you laugh together. You might get mad at each other sometimes, but you still love them. They're always here for you.

High school is so much more than just school, it's unforgettable memories being made.

Now, I know I'm just a freshman, but i already know that this is one ride that i will miss once it's over.

My mom gave me some advice, "Cherish these moments because they won't last forever. These are the best times of your life so live them to the fullest."

Just something to think about,

Fierce and Love,

Makenzie :)

On this wonderful Wednesday:)

To start off today's announcement, THE COUNTDOWN HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED! What countdown you might ask? Well, this is the countdown to Miss Smiths Station's Outstanding Teen Pageant that will be held on September 12, 2010. 11 days! I'm so excited! Please pray for my journey into this pageant.

On the other hand, my best friend in the whole wide world had her first dance practice of this year yesterday afternoon. I wonder how it went, so Meaghan if you see this comment and tell!

I have a pretty packed week. Get this, Today- homework and Church! (Message me and I’ll tell you which church! I would love for you to come!)
Tomorrow- Piano Lesson and then back to school for a called marching band practice
Friday- GAME DAY!!! WHOOP WHOOOP! Let’s get ‘em Aggies! Come support the Sylacauga Aggies Varsity Football Team at our first home game as we take on the Chelsea Hornets! I would also encourage you to come out to also see the Sylacauga Aggies Half-Million Dollar Marching Band as we reveal our BRAND NEW UNIFORMS! We will be performing popular songs from the guitar genius Santana! Songs such as Oye Como Va and Everybody’s Everything will be featured. We will also be performing a surprise song to end the show! So come on out
Saturday- The Sylacauga Aggie Marching Band will be bagging groceries at the “Pig”. I will be there from 11–1:30. Then I will be headed to Birmingham to shop for pageant dresses.
Sunday- Church, then I think I will be headed to a “special someone’s” church to fellowship with a new crowd.
Monday- Labor Day! I’m not real sure what we’ll be doing…

So, there’s my week! I guess I’ll be having fun!

Fierce and Love,
Makenzie

2011 Game Plan

It's actually kind of funny that even though this pageant season is half way over that I am now starting to blog about it. I am very proud of my talent this year. I am playing Pieczonka Tarantella composed by Albert Pieczonka. It is a very interesting spider dance and as my mom describes it, "This piece will make you want to tap your toes!" The judges seem to very much like my talent piece because I have proudly won talent in every pageant I have been in so far! Now, my evening gown. I have worn a total of three different evening gowns in the pageant circut this year. I have alternated between a dark green, liquid sequined bodice "flowy" gown designed by Night Moves. I originally got the dress for my piano but decided I liked it better as an evening gown. The other is a black and white mermaid styled dress with a sweet-heart shaped top (white) and right under the top there is a line of rhinestones then it's black from there down. It is a classic elegant dress designed by Precious Formals. Then my last is my white Tony Bowls "starburst dress". I love all three! Last but not least, my piano dress. I am wearing my black and red bubble dress designed by Sherri Hill. I truly couldn't find a better age appropriate dress for the piano. I hope everyone can come watch me put my game plan into action at my next pageant!
